Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling all existing agreements on energy supplies to India, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stating that bilateral cooperation between the two nations remains strong despite ongoing geopolitical challenges and Western sanctions. The assurance comes at a time when India continues to expand its imports to secure stable and affordable crude oil supplies for its growing economy.

Lavrov emphasized that Russia considers India a reliable strategic partner and will continue to meet contractual obligations related to crude oil, LNG, and other resources. Over the past two years, India has emerged as one of the largest buyers of Russian crude oil, benefiting from discounted prices amid global market volatility.

Energy cooperation between Russia and India has become a crucial pillar of their broader strategic partnership. Analysts say the continued supply could strengthen India’s security and reduce the impact of volatile oil prices. The development is also expected to strengthen trade ties and encourage further collaboration in sectors such as refining, petrochemicals, and renewable energy.

Experts note that India’s balanced foreign policy and growing economic influence have enabled it to maintain strong relations with both Western nations and Russia. The latest statement from Lavrov signals continuity in bilateral energy relations despite global diplomatic pressures and evolving sanctions frameworks.
