Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to be inaugurated on October 30, 2025, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The opening marks a significant expansion in India’s aviation infrastructure and is expected to ease pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while improving connectivity across the National Capital Region. Passenger flights are likely to commence within 45 days of the ceremony.
The greenfield airport, located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of western Uttar Pradesh, lies about 75 kilometres from Delhi and will be the second international airport serving the region. Its first phase will connect at least ten Indian cities including major hubs such as Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. International operations are planned to follow, while cargo services will also form an important part of the facility’s offering.
Key infrastructure for phase one is almost complete. The runway, air traffic control tower, aerobridges, baggage handling system and e-gates are either finished or in the final stages of preparation. Work on the terminal interiors continues, and final regulatory clearances including the aerodrome licence remain pending.
Once operational, the airport is expected to handle twelve million passengers annually in its first phase. Forecasts suggest around six million passengers will use the noida airport in its opening year. Long term development plans envisage four phases of expansion with capacity ultimately reaching seventy million passengers per year.
The project, developed with a strong focus on integrated transport and logistics, is viewed as a cornerstone for economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh. For airlines, regulators and investors, the noida airport’s launch is expected to create new route opportunities, reduce congestion at Delhi and stimulate regional development through improved connectivity.
