Rising Cooling Demand, Industrial Activity and Economic Growth Push Electricity Consumption Higher
India’s power consumption increased nearly 11% year-on-year to 170.7 billion units in July, reflecting the country’s rapidly growing electricity demand. The rise was driven by a combination of stronger economic activity, expanding industrial operations and increased use of cooling appliances amid high temperatures across several parts of the country.
The steady increase in electricity consumption highlights the growing energy requirements of India’s expanding economy. As manufacturing, infrastructure, urbanisation and digital services continue to grow, demand for reliable and uninterrupted is expected to remain strong.
