Andhra Pradesh has recorded a nearly four-fold increase in renewable capacity additions during the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant acceleration in the state’s clean energy transition. According to data tabled by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in the Lok Sabha, the state added 3,865.63 MW of renewable capacity during FY26, compared with 1,085.15 MW in the previous financial year.
Solar and Wind Energy Projects Drive Growth
The sharp rise has been supported by faster execution of utility-scale solar and wind projects, quicker approvals, land allotment and improved transmission and power evacuation infrastructure. Increased participation from private developers and continued investor interest have also helped accelerate project commissioning across the state.
The state is also exploring energy storage solutions, including Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which can help improve grid stability and support the integration of larger volumes of variable renewable power.
With rising investments, stronger transmission infrastructure and a growing pipeline of solar, wind and hybrid projects, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as an important hub in India’s clean transition. The latest capacity addition figures underline the state’s growing role in expanding renewable power while supporting India’s broader security and decarbonisation goals.
