Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 significant projects in Delhi on Wednesday to mark the launch of the Delhi government’s ‘Seva Pakhwada’ celebrations at Thyagraj Stadium, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

Among the projects to be unveiled are the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel for visually impaired students, the Atal Asha Home for intellectually disabled persons, and the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens’ Home, officials confirmed.

She stressed that these initiatives are particularly focused on sections of society long overlooked by previous administrations.

Gupta further announced that starting September 17, on PM Modi’s birthday, Delhi will observe Seva Pakhwada’ (Fortnight of Service) until October 2. During this period, 75 new projects worth several crores will be launched, aimed at boosting public welfare, enhancing convenience, and accelerating the city’s development.

The Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel, located near Timarpur close to Delhi University, is designed to provide visually impaired students with safe and self-reliant accommodation while pursuing higher education. Constructed at a cost of ₹13.42 crore, the facility spans a 3,703-square-metre plot and can house up to 96 students.

The Atal Asha Home, built in Narela, Outer Delhi, stands as a model facility for intellectually disabled individuals. Developed at a cost of ₹40.60 crore, it covers a 12,500-square-metre plot and has the capacity to accommodate 220 residents.

Meanwhile, the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens’ Home, constructed in Paschim Vihar at a cost of ₹10.64 crore, offers a safe and dignified living environment for 96 senior citizens. Spread across 2,257 square metres, the facility includes medical services, nutritious meals, clean accommodation, and recreational activities.

The Chief Minister noted that naming the home after Savitribai Phule honors India’s first woman teacher and social reformer, who fought against child marriage, caste discrimination, and championed women’s education.
