New Delhi: PM Modi chaired the 48th meeting of PRAGATI—Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation—reviewing major infrastructure projects across the Mines, Railways, and Water Resources sectors, and urged states to expedite health infrastructure development, especially under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).
During the meeting held at South Block, Modi underscored the cost of delays in infrastructure project execution, citing both financial escalation and delayed public service delivery. “Delays in project execution come at the dual cost of escalating financial outlays and denying citizens timely access to essential services and infrastructure,” the Prime Minister said, while calling for a results-oriented approach among Central and State officials.
A significant portion of the review focused on the progress of PM-ABHIM. The Prime Minister asked states to accelerate infrastructure work in Aspirational Districts and in remote, tribal, and border regions. He emphasised that equitable access to healthcare for the poor and marginalised must be ensured. “PM-ABHIM provides a golden opportunity to States to strengthen their primary, tertiary and specialised health infrastructure at Block, District and State level to provide quality health care and services,” he said.
The Prime Minister also reviewed defence sector initiatives being implemented by various Ministries and States. He highlighted indigenous efforts in defence manufacturing and referenced Operation Sindoor as an example of the success of locally developed capabilities. Modi said the operation reflected India’s growing self-reliance in the defence sector.
The Prime Minister urged states to actively contribute to strengthening the local defence ecosystem to support the larger vision of Aatmanirbharta in the defence manufacturing sector.
The PRAGATI platform integrates multiple government verticals for timely project execution and is a regular feature chaired by the Prime Minister to fast-track key infrastructure and welfare programmes.
